SUMMARY:

On Sunday, October 26, 2014, at approximately 2:52 a.m., a citizen called the Barstow Police and Fire Dispatch Center and reported “shots heard” in the 1400 block of Mesa Drive in Barstow.  Barstow Police Department Officers responded to the scene.  Sergeant Jeremy Bledsoe saw a vehicle speeding away from the scene and followed it to the emergency room of Barstow Community Hospital.  Bledsoe learned that the driver was taking her passenger, Dominick Gordon, age 28 years, to the emergency room because he suffered a gunshot wound to his foot.  Gordon was treated and released from the hospital.

A crime scene investigation was conducted in the 1400 block of Mesa Drive and evidence related to the shooting was located. The officers and detectives found numerous alcoholic beverage containers and fired cartridge casings in the street.

Detective Griego conducted several interviews which revealed that numerous persons had attended a “Halloween Party” at the residence located next to where the fired cartridge casings and alcoholic beverage containers were found in the street.  Evidence was found at the shooting scene and in the vehicle which transported Gordon to the emergency room. The investigation revealed that Dominick Gordon sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his foot.

The residence of Anthony Jones Jr., where the Halloween Party was held, was searched based on Jones’ felony probation terms.  Numerous people were found hiding inside the residence.  The following persons were arrested from the residence:

  1. Anthony Jones Jr. - 19 years of age, arrested for probation violation.
  2. Patrick Wilson - 20 years of age, arrested for probation violation.
  3. Rodney Woods Jr. - 24 years of age, arrested for parole violation.

Probation Officer David Neal placed felony probation holds on Jones Jr. and Wilson.

Parole Officer Diane Salka placed a felony parole hold on Woods Jr.

Further investigation revealed that the listed suspects, including Dominick Gordon, are members of a local criminal street gang.  The investigation revealed that another person(s), besides Gordon, fired a handgun in a negligent manner.  Investigation is being conducted to identify the other shooter and to recover the firearms used in the shooting.

Anyone having information on the shooting and the location of the handguns used in the shooting is asked to call the Barstow Police Department at 760-256-2211.  Callers wishing to remain anonymous may also call the WE-TIP hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME.
