The City of Barstow boasts seven ballparks, 12 play areas, an outdoor pool, bowling alley, two golf courses, and tennis courts. The community center offers a gym, weight room, arts and craft facilities, handball and racquetball courts, aerobics and sauna rooms. The Robert A Sessions Sportspark includes six ball fields (all with electronic scoreboards), two soccer fields, volleyball courts, batting cages, a covered in-line roller hockey arena and two concession areas. The immediate Barstow area offers a wide range of recreational activities for its residents and visitors alike, including organized youth and adult sports/activities through the Barstow Park & Recreation District and other organizations, as well as camping, hunting, off-roading, desert exploring, including viewing of seasonal wild flowers, geological points of interest and petroglyphs.

Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Areas
There are five major BLM areas around Barstow with more than 144,000 acres open to OHV recreational use. Located about 7 miles south of Barstow off Interstate 15, Stoddard Valley Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) is one of the most popular OHV areas. Stoddard Valley contains a variety of landscapes for off-highway vehicles and often hosts competitive OHV events within this area.
