Our hierarchy is to feed people first, not the landfill.
The Barstow community has several food recovery service providers who accept and distribute food donations to those experiencing food insecurity.
Desert Manna is a leading community service organization, providing Food Rescue which includes obtaining edible food (bakery and produce past its “Best Buy” date) from local grocery stores for many years as part of its Food Bank program. High Desert Second Chance is a non profit organization serving individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in the High Desert community. They are a private 501(c)(3) California non-profit corporation governed by a board of directors. They strive to give those in our community hope and a chance to help others in need of our services. HDSC holds multiple events throughout the year in collaboration with many local non-profits, community service providers, businesses and ministries.
