TRASH & RECYCLING ENCLOSURES

New developments and certain improvement projects in the City of Barstow are required to ensure adequate waste enclosures to secure trash, recycling, organics, and screen collection containers from public view.

Our Engineering team has developed a waste enclosure standardized plan to be used by developers and contractors when submitting for construction permits.   In addition, we recommend following our waste hauler enclosure design guidelines  when developing plans, to ensure accessibility and compatibility with vehicles/equipment. CONSTRUCTION WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN (CWMP)

Licensed contractors and owner/builders who are applying for a City of Barstow building permit for project which may generate construction waste must prepare a CWMP to document the project’s compliance with the California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen). Under the terms of CALGreen, the contractor/owner must recycle at least 65% of the construction debris, diverting waste from the from the landfill.
