SUMMARY:
On Sunday, July 17, 2016, at approximately 11:00 AM, Barstow Police Officers responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 200 block of E. Fredrick’s Street. The subsequent investigation revealed that the victim was in the process of moving into the residence where the burglary occurred. The burglary occurred during the late night or early morning hours between July 16, 2016 and July 17, 2016. The unidentified suspects forced entry into the residence by breaking a window. The suspects removed several household items from the victim’s residence. These items included a mattress, bedframe and sofa.
While officers were processing the scene items of the victim’s stolen property were located in the yard of another residence within the 200 block of East Fredrick’s Street. This residence was secured while the investigating officer obtained a search warrant to enter the suspect’s residence to search for more stolen property. After obtaining the search warrant, the residence was searched. During the search of the suspects residence, officers located more of the victim’s stolen property.
The suspect’s residence was not occupied when officers executed the search warrant.
Further investigation by Detectives revealed that the original owners had moved out of the residence a week prior and that the residence had been vacant. Detectives located evidence inside the residence indicating that someone had been illegally living in the residence.
