Nestled alongside the Calico Mountains and the Mojave River is the City of Barstow, rich in  history and poised to be at the center of regional economic growth.  Located at the crossroads of two major Interstates, midway between Los Angeles, CA and Las Vegas, NV, the City of Barstow is a major transportation center for the Inland Empire. Several major highways including Interstate 15, Interstate 40, and CA Highway 58 converge in the City, is a major transportation corridor that serves more than 60 million travelers and 19 million vehicles each year.  Barstow is home to the Marine Corps Logistics Base and is the closest city to the Fort Irwin Military Reservation.

Barstow's roots lie in the rich mining history of the Mojave Desert following the discovery of gold and silver in the Owens Valley. In modern times the City can boast having one of the last functioning Main Streets along Historic Route 66 in the downtown business district. Yearly, tens of thousands of tourists from all over the world flock to get a glimpse or drive a classic car along this historic route and remind us of the importance of this City to the High Desert region and the nation.

With a population of over 23,000 residents, and an outstanding local community college specializing in traditional degrees alongside vocational skills training for future workforce development, Barstow is on the threshold of becoming one of the premier locations for logistics, manufacturing and distributions hubs in the High Desert. 

Barstow is working on several strategic economic development projects that have the potential to significantly improve the overall quality of life for current and future residents.  Barstow has roughly 245,250 square feet of retail space available; is home to the Outlets at Barstow which provides shopping options that are usually only found in metropolitan areas; has an ultra-modern 82,500-square-foot new Community Hospital, is the site of a proposed casino and resort, and has several new residential developments in the planning process.  As for citywide development, there are roughly 5 square miles prime property for development which includes a 1200-acre Industrial Park and a 37-acre Business Park.
